Summer Homework: 3D Photography

 1. Photo Installation

WHAT: 
For this project you are going to create a paper installation that will be installed in the gallery at Aloha.  You need to decide on your message and what you would like to communicate through your installation.  You will take a photograph, copy it at least 500 times, fold your images into a repeating form and install it in the building.

WHEN: 
Over the summer.  Due the first day of class.  Seems like a ways away, but it isn't.  Don't procrastinate.  This will take time!

CRITERIA:
  • Must be your original concept and images. Do NOT use copyrighted images from online.
  • Print your photo and copy it at least 500 times. If you need help copying email me and I can help you.  PLAN AHEAD.  SCHEDULE THIS. I will be out of town for a lot of the summer.
  • Must be created out of a repeating paper form.
  • Repeating form should create UNITY and MOVEMENT.
  • Create CONTRAST in your photograph.
TURNING IN:
  • Bring final work to the first day of class. 
  • Must be copied, folded and ready to install.
2. CONTRAST

WHAT: 
For this project you will be contrasting two different ideas by juxtaposing two photographs. How the photographs are juxtaposed are up to you. You can use two images or you can use an image with a sculpture.  Create your concept first.  Then take your images. Finally, assemble your piece.

WHEN: 
Over the summer.  Due the first day of class.  Seems like a ways away, but it isn't.  Don't procrastinate.  This will take time!

CRITERIA:

  • Must be created out of your own images and must be an original concept.
  • Work must show a contrasting idea or concept.
  • Photographs used must have beautiful lighting.
  • Demonstrate excellent craftsmanship in your final product.

TURNING IN:
  • Bring final work to the first day of class.

3. Inspire Those Around you

WHAT: 
For this project you will be creating a photo installation that will inspire others in some way. Look at the following sites and watch the videos if there are videos.  Think about the emotions that you feel when you experience the art and/or videos.
